LKF’s California Tower to host contemporary French art exhibition

What comes to mind when you think of Lan Kwai Fong? Cheap 7/11 alcohol? Wandering monks? What about contemporary French art?

As if LKF weren’t already classy enough, Avenue des Arts Gallery will be hosting a cross-genre contemporary French art exhibition at the newly revamped California Tower from June 26 to July 2.

As part of Le French May (which clearly is no longer confined just to May), the exhibition will feature the works of four accomplished artists, all of whom encapsulate their French cultural experiences into their artwork:

– Optical artist Marcos Martin, who serves as the official artist of Prince Albert of Monaco, channels Warhol in his portraits of celebrities and iconic figures (like the portrait of Elizabeth Taylor above), which call into question issues of fame and reputation.

– Fox Daniels, who uses different mediums to create caricatures of prominent personalities in society.

– Tehos, who reflects upon social issues through mixed media of collages and acrylic paint.

– Artheline, whose sculptures mix unusual colour schemes with curvaceous female forms to create a fun visual experience.

The exhibition will be open for the week from 12pm to 10pm at California Tower, so take it as a chance to culture yourself before you pop next door for a Jello shot.
