Stop the presses! No, wait. Don’t!
The brand new independent, non-profit news source Hong Kong Free Press (HKFP) will finally be launching on June 30. And what better way to celebrate the freedom of the press than by exercising your freedom to party?
HKFP will be holding a launch fundraiser at the awesomely gritty XXX Gallery in Sai Wan on Friday July 3.
One hundred percent of proceeds from ticket sales and merchandise will go directly to keeping HKFP free, online, and hopefully safe from any more cyber attacks.
The site was founded by Tom Grundy – who also runs the popular local-focus blog Hong Wrong – and promises to provide nonpartisan, credible reporting on local and national news amid concerns about the decline of press freedom in Hong Kong.
Sounds like a worthy cause to us! Though maybe we’re biased…
