ALL THE GREATS TOGETHER

 
Renowned pianist, musical educator and classical music enthusiast Nicolette Wong returns with a new show, taking us on a journey from 18th century Germany to 20th century America. The concert will explore three periods of classical music, combining the works of two significant composers in each to demonstrate how the greats pushed boundaries and defined their own voices.

SILKY SMOOTH ACROBATICS ON THE SILK ROAD

 
The award-winning Shaanxi Acrobatic Troupe presents the “Legend of the Silk Road”, a show that will combine acrobatic feats, dance, costumes and stage design to open the International Arts Carnival, which runs from July 10 to August 16. See the story of the legendary trade route that linked China to the Western world for a millennium and a half, told through award winning acrobatics and choreography. What else?

GLOBAL ART IN HONG KONG

 
Performing groups from China, to Australia, to Europe are to gather in Hong Kong for the International Arts Carnival, a festival organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. With more than 400 events to choose from over the span of a month, there is absolutely something for everyone, from interactive baby theatre enthusiasts to connoisseurs of wacky percussions groups with punny names.

THE UNSPEAKABLE EMOTIONS

 
Curator Yip Kai Chun presents his award-winning project “away”, an art exhibition centred on the subject of loss and remembrance. The exhibition tackles such harsh realities by blending creative works that are usually separated, such as paper crafts, videos and sculptures. Drawing from Yip’s first hand experiences of his mother’s death, this unique exhibit is sure to provoke emotions and memories about a subject that touches us all.

MOZART AT HEART

 
Concert pianist and master of classical improvisation David Dolan joins the Hong Kong Sinfonietta to deliver an evening of Mozart. This sure-to-be energising show will demonstrate the magical process of music making in an ensemble setting.

Acclaimed Young American Artist Lauren Matsumoto brings her unique mix of traditional collage techniques to Fabrik Gallery in her solo exhibition “Fragments.”. The combination of paintings inspired by photos taken while travelling and found imagery results in art that reuses the fragments of civilisation to create a new vision.
