McDonald’s Hong Kong to launch create-your-own-burger kiosks next month!

We like to think we’re somewhat burger connoisseurs in Hong Kong. We ruddy well ought to be given the amount of choice we have these days!

But sometimes, when we’re feeling particularly self indulgent and sad inside, only good ol’ Maccy D’s will do.

But that pinnacle of dirty dining is about to get a whole lot posher/more dangerous, as the McDonald’s Create Your Own Taste (CYT) kiosks come to Hong Kong.

Having already launched in the United States, Australia and Singapore, CYT will explode into our city from the start of next month, according to the brand new Hong Kong Free Press. (We’re glad to see they’re covering the really important local news from the get-go!)

The kiosks will come in the form of a touch screen ordering machine, whereby you can pick and choose from a number of waaay better than normal burger items, including artisan buns and a bunch of fancy cheeses – although the latter still comes in the same flimsy processed slices (Yay! Shhh!).

And while you can only order one bun and two patties at a time, for some reason the system allows you to order 10x bacon, 10x vegies, 10x all the cheeses and 10x all the sauces – as this enthusiastic American found out:

CYT will only be available at outlets in Festival Walk, Kowloon Tong and the Leighton Centre in Causeway Bay, but if successful the scheme could be rolled out across the city.

Please order responsibly.
