Woman, 19, attacked by scissor-wielding man in Sha Tin

A 19-year-old woman was attacked by a 26-year-old man on her way home in Sha Tin last night. The man reportedly jumped out of nowhere on Chap Wai Kon Street and attacked the woman without provocation.

During the assault, the woman cried for help while trying to dodge the attacker, suffering wounds to her back, face and chest before six men intervened to subdue the assailant, reports Bastille Post.

She was sent to Prince of Wales Hospital for medical treatment, where she was received in a conscious state.

The attacker has a history of mental illness, having been diagnosed with early-stage psychosis five years ago. He had only been released from Shatin Hospital three weeks ago, and it is believed that his failure to take his medication caused the incident.

The attack was likely not premeditated, as both parties had no prior interaction before the incident. The man is now currently in police custody, and the case has been given to the Shatin police force for further investigation.
