In the most recent series of opportunities for expats to behave poorly in public, Hong Kong’s famous party hub Lan Kwai Fong is hosting a Beer and Music Fest in early August – because beer and music are so scarce there the rest of the year.
As if that wasn’t enough, this year’s theme is “Wild West,” encouraging people of all nationalities to horse around and ride a cowboy, or be American, skip the whole colonisation thing and go straight to chasing indigenous people off their ancestral lands… or whatever.
Of course, there will be live music as well as “Cowgirl Dance” performances to keep the theme going throughout the festival.
In legitimate good news, there will be more than 200 types of beer available at the event, ensuring an agreeable libation for every palate. For the more adventurous, “Craft Beer Street” will feature the latest hipster concoctions, such as toffee pudding and grapefruit flavored brews.
In addition, there will be plenty of international snacks for you to eat your feelings away, or at least soak up all the poor selections you made at Craft Beer Street. Mexican Tacos, Peking Duck Rolls, Japanese BBQ Skewers and “Cowboy” burgers a plenty will be on offer as you ditch your summer dieting rules for the weekend.
In the “eatin’s cheatin” camp? Don’t worry. There will also be alcoholic ice pops to ensure you can continuing boozing and eating at the same time!
Once you’re all nice and raging drunk, stop by some of the arts-and-crafts or fashion accessory stalls and to get your sticky beer hands all over some painstakingly handmade goods, or challenge your friends in a game of irresponsible purchasing.
If shopping isn’t your thing, perhaps a drunk coordination contest at the game booths is in order. Who knows? You might be the lucky winner of some condoms from Okamoto for your hookup later.
