A blind cat that was seemingly stolen from a bookshop/crazy cat lady sanctuary in North Point has been returned to its owner.
Fok Jai, which means “Lucky Boy” in Cantonese, was dropped off at the SPCA in Wan Chai last night after going missing from Sum Kee Book Store last Thursday, reports Apple Daily.
The delightful sounding store is said to house at least 20 cats, many of them ill.
Fok Jai’s disappearance seems to be a blatant case of cat-napping, as CCTV footage shows a nervous-looking man in a hood, sunglasses and a medical mask bundle the partially-sighted pussycat into a backpack and make haste out of the store.
The shop’s owner Caroline Chan said the man had been visiting the bookshop for the past month, though how she recognised him in that get up is anyone’s guess.
Maybe the Invisible Man thing is just his look. Hey, if it works for Kevin Bacon…
After frantic appeals to the media with Chan promising not to press charges if Fuk Jai was returned unharmed, the ginger kitty mysteriously found his way to the animal rescue centre in Wan Chai.
Fok Jai is now back in the shop bumping into bookshelves like a good’un. What a lucky boy indeed!
