Hong Kong bar manager slashes rowdy Russian who refuses to leave after closing time

Getting drunken customers to leave after closing time is a challenge all bar owners face. Some encourage drinkers to get on their way by refusing to serve them and turning off the music, while others will slash at them with a 10-inch knife.

The latter was the method employed by a bar manager, surnamed Au, when a Russian man refused to leave a bar on Yiu Wa Street, Causeway Bay, in the early hours of Monday morning, reports Apple Daily.

The 33-year-old Russian, an IT professional identified only as Alexander, reportedly descended on the bar with about 20 friends on Sunday night. While most had departed by the 3am closing time, party boy Alexander and two of his mates stayed behind drinking for another two hours.

When they refused to pay up and leave on request, bar manager Au reportedly came at the men with a 10-inch fruit knife, slashing Alexander’s ear and fingers.

He then apparently chased the terrified Russian into the car park, where Au yelled “Come on! Get out!” as Alexander hid under a parked van.

Unable to reach the slippery customer, Au allegedly took his anger out on the van instead, stabbing it several times.

He was eventually arrested, while Alexander was taken to hospital.
