Everyone’s talking about PechaKucha Night Hong Kong. At least we are, right now, in writing form.

PechaKucha (Japanese for “chit-chat”) is an evening of mini talks with a twist: speakers focus their presentations on 20 images, and are given only 20 seconds for each picture. Don’t worry, we did the maths for you: it ends up at precisely 6 minutes and 40 seconds per speaker.

These quick-paced slideshows cater perfectly to those of us with short attention spans (i.e. 99% of the city).

First held at a Tokyo gallery in 2003, PechaKucha Nights have since taken place in more than 800 cities around the world, where a range of speakers have shared their ideas and stories with the help of images.

You can catch the latest PechaKucha Night right here at Hong Kong’s XXX Club next Tuesday, August 4.

Confirmed speakers for the evening include Kevin Lynch, an obsessive AirBnB-er who’s stayed at more than 100 different Hong Kong apartments, SUP Yoga Hong Kong founder Nadine Bubner, and Jess Jacobson from the Women’s Foundation.

Get an early bird ticket for HKD80 to hear these bound-to-be-interesting – if not, at least short – snapshot stories.
