Showcase your artwork and pork out on potluck at ‘Slideluck’ Hong Kong

Calling all up-and-coming (read: struggling) artists in Hong Kong!

Dying to show off your first piece but not sure where to find your first audience? You’ll be able to do just that, and eat some delicious home cooking, if you submit your work for the next Slideluck Hong Kong in October.

The half-slideshow, half-potluck initiative which has taken the world by non-too-violent storm, is back in town for a second year and is looking for artists to submit their oeuvre to be shown on the evening.

A Slideluck session is exactly as it sounds: everyone brings his/her own homemade dish, then shares their food and artwork with the baying crowd.

This year’s session will run under the theme of “Contrast”, so you can pretty much do whatever the hell you feel like.

Slideluck’s organisers say that “All artists are welcome no matter your ability”, though obviously your masterpiece arse photocopy will probably not be chosen as one of the 20 entries for the evening.

In the past, most submissions have been photo essays featuring around 20-30 images, but you’re more than welcome to think outside the box. All slideshows should also be accompanied by a copyright-free audio recording or spoken word of the artist’s choice.

Send in your submission to Slideluck before the September 21 deadline, or just go to the event, eat more than your fair share of food and critique everyone’s work in an obnoxiously loud fashion.
