NOM’s ‘Italian Street Sound Thursdays’ is the new Friday in Hong Kong

Hong Kong’s first meatball bar, NOM (Not Only Meatballs) has come up with the perfect accompaniment to Italian street food – house music, of course. Duh!

On the first and third Thursdays of every month from September onwards, the Elgin Street eatery will be churning out deep-house, chill-out and electronic sounds alongside new antipasti delights.

“Italian Street Sound Thursdays” promises to bring the grub that is “typically only served in food markets in Italy” to the newly pimped casual leathery longue.

The new menu items come courtesy of Executive Chef Fabrizio Napolitano (how uberly Italian is his name?), who has been living in Hong Kong for nine years since earning his kitchen stripes at Michelin-star restaurants in Italy.

The antipasti menu “represents different types of street food served in various food market in different regions”, including Sicilian Arancini Stuffed Rice Balls (HKD98), Romagna region Sliders with Mortadella, Buffalo Ricotta and Black Truffle (HKD118), and Mozzarella in Carozza (AKA Mozzarella Sticks) from the Campania Region (HKD108).

And since the promotion falls on Thirsty Thursdays, the occasion calls for a drink. A handcrafted Italian beer with one of the above snacks comes in at just HKD158.

As NOM puts it: “Thursday is the new Friday.” We’re all down for that as long as it doesn’t make Sunday the new Monday.
