Panel (including Cherie Blair) to discuss worldwide women’s rights in Hong Kong

Thanks to Beyonce, we know “who runs the world? Girls!” (otherwise known as women).

Meanwhile, many women around the world remain educationally oppressed and lacking opportunity.

These topics and more will be addressed at, “For Lasting Change: Women’s Education and Empowerment” panel discussion in Hong Kong on Aug. 31.

The Asia Society Hong Kong Centre has invited speakers from the Asian University for Women in Bangladesh, which provides education for women regardless of their economic background.

The speakers include the school’s Chancellor Cherie Blair (yes, the former British Prime Minister’s wife) and Founding Chairman Jack Meyer. Ronnie C. Chan of the Asia Society will also be in attendance for this wide-ranging discussion on women’s rights.

The three will assess the many barriers – cultural, social, professional – that females face, and how the Asian University for Women is providing the skillsets to empower individuals to achieve their aspirations.

If you can’t make it, there will also be a live stream here.
