Police search for man accused of pricking girlfriend’s crying baby with nappy pins

In a week of rather grim stories involving children, Hong Kong police are hunting for a man who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend’s crying baby with nappy pins.

The alarm was raised at around 5:45pm yesterday after the 26-year-old mother noticed her son’s injuries in their Yuen Long home.

“Initial investigation revealed that when the baby was crying at home, the man was suspected of using the pins to sting his legs,” a police source told the SCMP. It is believed the baby suffered several wounds on each leg.

The boy was taken to Tuen Mun Hospital while the police search for the 32-year-old (presumably now ex-) boyfriend.

If convicted of wilfully mistreating a child, he could face 10 years in jail.
