UK police warn Hongkongers against harbouring fugitive sex offending ice skater

British police have warned the Hong Kong friends and relatives of a fugitive sex offending ice skater (you don’t read that every day) against harbouring him if he shows up in the city.

Joseph Tsang, 31, disappeared in London on the first day of his trial for two counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault last month.

He was found guilty in absentia, adding to a host of other convictions, including three counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of making indecent images of children.

Tsang is still awaiting sentencing for the latter charges after being released by the judge following a guilty verdict in a first trial.

Speaking to the Sunday Morning Post, Thames Valley Police Detective Chief Inspector Katy Barrow-Grint, said: “I think most people are disgusted with what he has done and will inform the police, but there are definitely some people who are helping him, and I am very concerned they are doing that.

“I think it will be family members.

“It is a criminal offence to assist an offender, so if you are actively trying to hide him from us you are committing an offence and you will be prosecuted for that, if we find out.”

Tsang, a former ice skater who police say uses the sport to groom young girls into sex, has been placed on a watch list at every UK port, but is not yet being sought by Hong Kong police or Interpol.

British police describe him as being slim, clean shaven, 1.7 metres tall with brown eyes and short black hair. He usually wears earrings in both ears and glasses.
