Restaurant staff, including female worker, beaten up in dispute over Hong Kong hot pot bill

Hot pot is supposed to be a meal that brings people together – but unfortunately, it seems that’s not always the case.

Five customers, four of whom are reported to be “foreigners” by Ming Pao Daily, were arrested on Sunday night after allegedly refusing to pay a bill and beating up restaurant staff, including a woman, at a hot pot joint in Kowloon City.

The group, which reportedly ranges in age from 22 to 26, was apparently flabbergasted after receiving a bill at the Fuk Lo Tsun Road restaurant for HKD5,800 at around 1am on Sunday morning.

One of the group, identified as 23-year-old Jan, allegedly assaulted one male and one female worker, in the row that ensued.

The police were called and arrested the customers, although it is understood that one of them was able to return later that day to settle the bill.

Needless to say, those arrested are in hot water (#hotpotpun).
