Hong Kong to be overrun by pandas (again!) in latest public art world tour

It seems like only yesterday that Hongkongers saw their streets invaded by 1,600 miniature pandas.

Now we’re facing an entirely new takeover of decidedly more bold and bulky bears.

Organised by the Link Culture and Communication of Chengdu and Greater China Culture Global Association (now that’s a mouthful), the self-proclamed “world’s first Giant Panda public art tour” is coming to Hong Kong this month.

Heart Panda was conceptualized in Chengdu, Sichuan, the hometown of giant pandas, and aims to explore the creativity of Chinese youth.

The event aims to promote public art and raise money for charity with the theme “Let’s Love 善.愛”.

More than 60 giant panda art pieces, sculpted in different poses and individually painted, will be displayed at 1881 Heritage in Tsim Sha Tsui from Oct. 26 to Nov. 4.

Get your selfie stick at the ready!

The figures, which were are created by students and artists from across China as well as local celebs, will be auctioned off at the end of the exhibition to raise funds for Sheen Hok Charitable Foundation, which helps children suffering with amblyopia and cleft lip in China.

Did we mention there’ll be pandas?
