Two pictures that allegedly show firefighters hazing their colleagues have gone viral after around eight firemen were accused of sexually assaulting one of their colleagues.
One picture allegedly shows a new fire recruit being pinned down while his colleagues smear cake or whipped cream into his buttocks, while another shows a group of firemen laughing while they hold down a shirtless man and one of their colleagues shoves his arm down the man’s pants.
According to Apple Daily, a 29-year-old firefighter reported to the police that at least seven of his colleagues took off his pants and forced him to masturbate last year. The firefighter reportedly joined the force four years ago and was quite shy.
It is unknown if his accusation is related to the photos that have been shared widely on the internet in recent days.
The young firefighter’s friends reportedly urged him to report the incident after he starting to experience depression and suicidal thoughts after the alleged sexual assault. He made the report on Tuesday.
Yesterday morning, West Kowloon division police took away eight firefighters from the Tsim Sha Tsui station. No arrests have been made so far.
All eight, including a senior firefighter, will be transferred from their department starting from Oct. 11, according to an internal email acquired by Apple Daily.
A serving fireman told Mingpao that pranks, like shaving a sleeping colleague’s head, are not uncommon.
He said he was unaware of any sexual assault within the organisation, and commented that firemen tend to “stay out of one another’s path” if they do not get along.
He admitted the firefighters allegedly involved in the incidents depicted in the viral photos may have “gone too far”.
