A video filmed in Mong Kok on Saturday evening appears to show an intoxicated man slapping a taxi driver. According to a Facebook post, the man tried to board the taxi on Portland Street but was rejected on account of his drunkenness.
He then apparently slapped the taxi driver (because that’s always a good idea), which led to the police being called. The man, who spoke with a mainland Chinese accent, repeatedly protested his innocence as multiple police officers physically restrained him and bundled him into a nearby police van. At one point, a spectator can be heard saying “it’s for your own good!”
While Hong Kong’s police may not be as tactful with the inebriated as, say, their Norwegian counterparts, we think they did a fairly good job of preventing the situation from escalating into a full-scale brawl.
