Bon Iver to perform first Hong Kong show in March

Skinny Loves rejoice! Secret Sounds Asia, who brought Charli XCX to Hong Kong in January, have collaborated with Your Mum HK to bring indie folk giants Bon Iver to Hong Kong’s MacPherson Stadium next March. The concert will be the American band’s first performance in Hong Kong, on what we believe is their first Asian tour.

Bon Iver is perhaps best known for their song “Skinny Love”, whose popularity skyrocketed four years after release when singer Birdy’s cover put it back on the charts. Following their critical and commercial success, Bon Iver took a three year hiatus in 2012, and has to date only performed live once at frontman Justin Vernon’s Eaux Claires festival since resuming their work.

While the band has not released any albums or EPs since, a new song entitled “Heavenly Father,” debuted on the soundtrack of Zach Braff’s 2014 film, Wish I Was Here:

Bon Iver also debuted two new songs during their concert at Eaux Claires this year, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that they’ll also play them during their Asian tour. Bon Iver’s concert will take place at MacPherson Stadium just one week after Death Cab For Cutie’s, so all you indie kids better get to saving for tix and growing those beards!
