Hong Kong talk show presenter, blogger and bon vivant Cassi narrowly avoided being crushed by an oncoming truck in Soho yesterday, after her interest in birds (specifically owls) brought her out of harm’s way.
The You Can’t Sit With Us HK presenter recalls that she had just wandered off the road towards a display of owl backpacks which had caught her eye, when “people just started running and screaming”.
According to Apple Daily, a truck driver, surnamed Lo, had just delivered 3.3 tonnes of construction materials on Peel Street at around 2pm when he lost control of the brakes. The truck reportedly skidded down the steep junction between Peel Street and Staunton Street for about 50 metres before crashing into the side of Pak Kung Temple, thankfully missing worshippers.
24-year-old Cassi told Coconuts HK that she originally mistook the calamity as a bomb scare until she turned around and saw the damaged vehicle.
We guess the lesson here (apart from “don’t lose control of your truck”) is: owl-ways look both ways before crossing the road!
