Filipina arrested for suspected negligence after 3-year-old daughter falls to death in Yau Ma Tei

A 41-year-old Filipina has been arrested on suspicion of negligence after her three-year-old daughter fell to her death from a commercial building on Valentine’s Day.

According to Apple Daily, the toddler fell out of a bathroom window at Arrow Employment Services on the 16th floor of Sunbeam Commercial Building at 469 Nathan Road.

The three-year-old was seen lying unconscious on a fourth-floor platform of the building at approximately 1.45pm and rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The family are regulars at the employment agency’s Sunday church services, which are mostly attended by fellow Filipinos. The child’s father, a pastor, told police that he often brought his daughter to the same men’s bathroom on their visits to the agency.

However, he had reportedly used and left the bathroom alone yesterday without bringing his daughter. Approximately 30 minutes later, the child was believed to have ventured into an unlocked cubicle in search of her father, and fallen out of the window (which is not fitted with grilles).

At the time, the girl’s mother was reportedly inside the employment agency with her younger child, and apparently had no idea of her toddler’s whereabouts.

Police later found a child’s footprints on top of a toilet and on the sill of a window which had been pushed open.
