Hong Kong musician dies from suspected electrocution during shower

A 34-year-old composer from Hong Kong died of suspected electrocution while showering in a historic village house in Yuen Long on Wednesday night.

Tin Ho-man was in the bathroom of the unit he had been using as a workshop yesterday evening when his flatmate heard a shout, Apple Daily reports.

Tin’s flatmate, who was on his way out, thought nothing of it. Three hours later, he found Tin unconscious in the bathroom, holding a running shower head in his hand.

When he touched Tin’s body, the flatmate reportedly felt an electric shock.

Paramedics confirmed that Tin was dead on the scene, and officers from the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) checked the property for faulty electric installations.

A source told the SCMP that the house was under renovation.

“We suspect there was a leakage of current from an electric appliance, electricity went into a water pipe, and the water was electrified,” the source elaborated.

The electric water heater has been ruled out, as the EMSD says it was not leaking.

The police have said initial investigations show no suspicious circumstances. The case has been classified as suspected electrocution pending an autopsy.
