Catch ageless Aussie bombshell Olivia Newton John on her return to Hong Kong!

Presented by

If you’re of the “Grease” generation, you are no doubt Hopelessly Devoted to Olivia Newton John. No prizes for guessing we would open with that line!

As the British-born Australian singer, songwriter, actress and philanthropist celebrates 50 years since her debut single in 1966 (how old does that make you feel?) she returns to Hong Kong on May 12 for what promises to be a energetic, classics-packed concert at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai.

Thank god we don’t have to trek all the way out to Asia Expo for once!

Although perhaps best known for her role as the [SPOILER ALERT] demure-turned-devilish Sandy Dee in Grease, ONJ (as she’s know by her shorthand-appreciating fans) is one of the best selling artists on the planet.

Her U.S debut album “Let Me Be There” gave her a top 10 single of the same name, and saw her honored as the Most Promising Female Vocalist in the Academy of Country Music awards and Best Country Vocalist in the Grammys of that year.

Since then, everyone’s favorite Aussie songstress (Kylie is for kids) has sold more than 100 million albums and won numerous more awards. She’s also had 10 #1 hits, the most famous of which is, of course, “Physical”, which topped the charts for 10 consecutive weeks and was listed as The Sexiest Song of All Time by Billboard Magazine in 2010 and #6 on their 100 Best Songs of All Time list in 2008.

Let’s take a moment to enjoy that epic 80s video RIGHT NOW! (So not suitable for work!)

But it was, of course, in 1978 that ONJ really stole the limelight when teaming up with John Travolta (honestly, he was once pretty good looking) in Grease, the most successful movie musical in history. As much as we all loved the best-selling duets “Summer Nights” and “You’re the One That I Want”, who didn’t secretly fancy themselves dreamily swinging around a porch in an ankle-length white nighty, swishing scented notepaper in a paddling pool a la Sandy in “Hopelessly Devoted”.

Here it is for your nostalgic viewing pleasure:

If that just made you tingle with delight, make sure you catch this legend of a woman in Hong Kong on May 12.
