Minibus driver chased for 5km after scratching Apple Daily reporterโ€™s car in Kowloon

A minibus driver was arrested this morning after unwittingly grazing an Apple Daily reporterโ€™s car, being chased for five kilometres, and then found in possession of suspected narcotics.

In an interview with Apple Daily (who else?), the reporter said he was driving along Mei Foo bridge towards Tsim Sha Tsui at around 8:45am when the red minibus cut into his lane without warning, and grazed his car.

โ€œHe bumped the bus against my car and scratched my rearview mirror, so I honked my horn. But he didnโ€™t stop, so I kept chasing after him,โ€ the reporter said. The bus was allegedly hugging the lane boundary and nearly scraped other vehicles.

After calling the police, the reporter tailed the minibus for just over five kilometres, until it stopped at a traffic light near Jordan Road. When he approached the minibus, the driver allegedly offered to compensate for the damage done to his car, but appeared to be acting suspiciously.

When the police arrived, they reportedly agreed that the driver was dazed and incoherent (or should we say Dazed and Confused?), and suspected him to be under the influence of drugs. The seven or eight passengers onboard the minibus were asked to disembark the vehicle while police dogs searched the van.

The dogs found several packets of white powder, believed to be ketamine and Erimin, a depressant also known as โ€œHappy 5โ€. The minibus driver was arrested on suspicion of possessing dangerous drugs.
