A Star Ferry crashed into Wan Chai Pier at around 1:22pm today, causing two men and a woman to be hospitalised for unspecified injuries.
A spokesperson for The Star Ferry Company told Oriental Daily that a 12:45pm ship from Tsim Sha Tsui to Wan Chai carrying 20 to 30 passengers encountered a mechanical failure which prevented the vessel from berthing, resulting in the ship losing control and hitting the pier.
The ship reportedly continued operating as normal and berthed at Tsim Sha Tsui pier shortly afterwards. Investigation is underway by officers from the Marine Department, while the ferry company has arranged for the ferry in questioned to be repaired.
