A nine-months-pregnant 19-year-old woman fell to her death yesterday afternoon from an 18th floor apartment in Shek Kip Mei.
The deceased, surnamed Ng, and her husband of four months were expecting their first child together at the end of the month, Apple Daily reports.
Yesterday afternoon, Ng visited her godmother at Shek Kip Mei Estate and reportedly fell out of a window to her death while her godmother was taking a nap at around 5pm. Local media outlets are reporting Ng’s death as suicide.
The 19-year-old landed on an empty van parked below the 18th floor apartment. She was taken to the hospital, but could not be revived.
Oriental Daily reports that Ng’s husband repeatedly said he had “lost the baby” when he arrived on the scene. Tactical Unit police officers combed the area searching for the child, believing Ng to have just given birth, but the baby was later found crushed to death during Ng’s medical examinations.
No suicide note was found.
