Police escort two sleepy wild boars off crowded Aberdeen streets

#HKBoarWatch is back and it’s cuter than ever! We hope you’re ready to have your day brightened.

At around 6am today, passersby reported seeing two wild boars sleeping in some bushes in Aberdeen, and called the police. For wild animals that had just been woken up surrounded by gawking spectators, the hairy li’l nap partners seemed remarkably good-tempered, and allowed the cops to gently lead them back in the direction of the hillside.

Well, we don’t have to imagine it: one stretch of the #PigMarch was captured by netizen Dennis Cheng, who wrote “8:30am, there are some wild pigs doing their shopping near Aberdeen Bus Terminus”.

Further footage captured by Oriental Daily shows the officers patiently waiting for their adorable (if easily distracted) charges to follow them across footbridges and up stairs, while occasionally pausing for some water.

At one point, the officers — who resorted to tapping railings with their batons to keep the boars moving — can be heard gently encouraging the animals by saying, “Come along now, behave. Be good!” in a tone of voice not totally unlike Farmer Arthur from Babe.
