3-year-old girl runs through moving traffic and collides with taxi in Mong Kok (VIDEO)

A three-year-old girl thankfully escaped major injuries on Monday evening after she ran into traffic and collided with the side of a moving taxi.

Footage of the child, who is reported to be mainland Chinese, shows her darting across the junction of Argyle Street and Shanghai Street, apparently to join her mum and grandmother.

While a double decker bus she ran in front of thankfully stopped in the nick of time, the child almost immediately ran into the side of a moving taxi in the adjacent lane, and crumpled to the ground.

Dashcam footage shows the three-year-old quickly picking herself up, taking two steps and tottering over again, before her mum and two other people walked over and helped her up.

The 60-year-old cabbie, surnamed Leung, quickly stopped his car and also got out to check on the girl.

Oriental Daily reports that the toddler, who is from mainland China, was running to meet her 24-year-old mum, who is in Hong Kong on a two-way permit.

SCMP reports that the child was taken to Kwong Wah Hospital by ambulance, and treated for facial injuries.

A clip of the incident, which took place at around 9pm on Monday, was uploaded to Facebook yesterday and shared widely by netizens who expressed their concern and disapproval that the girl hadn’t been taught about road safety.
