Number 2 Special: Man says he was sold veggie noodles with poo in by Kwun Tong restaurant

Well, there goes our appetite. A Kwun Tong restaurant is being monitored by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) after its staff were accused of selling a man some veggie noodles that came with a lump of poo.

The man, surnamed Ho, told Apple Daily he ordered two noodle dishes to take away from the restaurant at around 1pm yesterday. When he brought the food home, however, his wife asked what the suspicious-looking brown lump in her “Buddha’s Delight” vegetable noodles was.

“I thought it looked kind of like a cloud ear fungus, so I popped it in my mouth to have a taste,” Ho said. Bad move, dood(ie).

“As soon as I put it in my mouth, I could tell it was the same kind of texture as faeces… I couldn’t have spat it out faster if I tried,” Ho recounted.

If you, like us, are wondering how somebody could literally eat shit without realising, Ho said the lump “didn’t have an obvious smell” at first, but “really stank of poo” after he cut it open.

The couple then returned to the restaurant to confront its staff with the offending poo-dles, but were told that the lump was in fact a braised piece of fungus. (We wonder if anyone yelled, “You’re full of crap!”)

Ho and his wife called the police, as well as the FEHD, who took the noodles and the “foreign object” away for testing. The FEHD has also sent staff to examine the hygiene conditions at the restaurant’s kitchen, and said it would “take appropriate action” where necessary.
