29-year-old firefighter arrested on suspicion of raping woman in Tsim Sha Tsui

A 29-year-old firefighter, who is posted at Mai Po Fire Station, has been arrested on Saturday on suspicion of raping a 21-year-old woman.

The pair reportedly met in a Mong Kok bar on Friday evening, according to Oriental Daily. At noon the next day, the woman reported the rape, which allegedly happened at a Tsim Sha Tsui hotel, to social workers.

The social workers then reported the case to the police.

Following a preliminary police investigation, the 29-year-old was arrested at his home in Ngau Tau Kok on Saturday. He was later released on bail and is required to report back to police by the end of the month.

A spokesperson for the Fire Services Department confirmed to Oriental Daily that a firefighter was arrested, and that the department is assisting with the police investigation. 

The case is being investigated by officers from the Yau Tsim Mong District Crime Squad.
