Morrissey rumoured to perform in Hong Kong this October

Iconic British musician Morrissey is rumoured to be performing in Hong Kong this autumn, as part of a newly announced world tour.

According to a slew of dates released by True To You, an online zine dedicated to The Smiths’ former frontman, morose ol’ Moz is scheduled to play at MacPherson Stadium on October 6.

We guess he’s just going to brush his “Chinese people are a subspecies” comment under the rug, then…

As well as Hong Kong, tour dates have been announced for Asian cities such as Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, Jakarta, Singapore, and Bangkok.

While the dates have yet to be confirmed by tour promoters, reputable music publications like Consequence of Sound and Pitchfork have reported the tour as fact as True To You is considered Morrissey’s “unofficial official website“, often releasing exclusive information and statements on the elusive singer’s behalf.

Morrissey first gained a following in the 80s as the lead singer of The Smiths, a seminal indie rock band from Manchester.

Famed for their poignant, melancholic (some may say melodramatic) lyrics, the band are best known for hits such as “This Charming Man”, “There is a Light That Never Goes Out”, and “How Soon Is Now?”.

Following the breakup of The Smiths in 1987, Morrissey has been hard at work as a solo artist, professional holder of polarising opinions, and writer of award-winningly cringey erotica.
