Police officer arrested for ‘stealing’ 14-year-old girl’s phone and wallet at arcade

A 29-year-old police officer was arrested on Sunday for the theft of a 14-year-old girl’s belongings while she was off duty. Some people take leaving work at the office very seriously, it seems.

The 14-year-old left her phone and wallet, worth a total of HKD3,000, at an arcade at Langham Place in Mong Kok at around 7pm on Saturday, Apple Daily reports

Police found her empty wallet and arrested one of the arcade customers, a 32-year-old woman surnamed Kwok, at the scene.

After reviewing CCTV footage, they also arrested a 29-year-old woman surnamed Chan, who is a friend of Kwok’s. Oh, and she’s also a police officer with the Narcotics Bureau, stationed at Police HQ in Wan Chai.

Chan and Kwok have been released on bail. Police told Oriental Daily that the force attaches “great importance” to the conduct of police officers, and will subject offending officers to criminal investigations and disciplinary reviews.
