WATCH: Hit-and-run driver hijacks car, claims to be triad member in dashcam footage

Video of the man fleeing the scene of a fatal crash he caused on Tsing Kwai Highway yesterday has been made public. After crashing his seven-seater van into a motorcycle and killing its 52-year-old rider, the van driver, who remains at large, hijacked a passing car to flee the crime scene.

Dashcam footage from the car that he boarded was posted online at around midnight today.

In the clip, the car’s 28-year-old driver, surnamed Lau, and his passenger can be heard discussing whether to get out and help the motorcyclist who was knocked over by a seven-seater van.

Suddenly, the driver of the van can be seen getting out and running towards Lau’s car.

“Whoa. Is there something we can do to help you?” a voice inside the car says.

Off-camera, the man says, “I am Wo Shing Wo. Open the door.”

Wo Shing Wo is one of the biggest triads in Hong Kong, and is involved with extortion, drug trafficking, gambling and prostitution.

After getting into the car, the man repeatedly says, “Start the car. Drive.”

Lau and his passenger can be heard asking, “Wait, what’s going on? Hang on, hang on. Did you hit someone?”

“Go. I didn’t hit anyone.”

“But we can see a motorcycle… ” a voice says tentatively.

“Just go, drive.”

At around 4am yesterday, a white seven-seater van travelling towards Tuen Mun on Tsing Kwai Highway crashed into a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, a 52-year-old airport cargo worker named Wu Man-yuen, sustained serious head injuries and was certified dead shortly afterwards.

The driver of the seven-seater got out of his car before it burst into flames. He got into Lau’s car and reportedly forced him to drive to a petrol station in Tsing Yi before escaping on foot.

No arrests have been made.
