Hong Kong athletes scoop 1 gold, 1 bronze medal at Paralympic Games in Rio!

We may not have won any medals during the Summer Olympics, but damn it if Hong Kong athletes aren’t making us proud at the Paralympics right now!

Hong Kong won one gold medal and one bronze medal in swimming and table tennis, respectively, in quick succession at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games yesterday.

Tennis player Ng Mui-wui, 19, won a bronze medal in the women’s singles table tennis event (class TT11), scoring the territory’s first medal at this year’s Games.

Shortly afterwards, swimmer Tang Wai-lok, also 19, then scooped a gold medal during the men’s S14 freestyle final event with a time of one minute and 56.32 seconds.

Not only did Tang’s time set a new record for the event, but it also marks the first time Hong Kong’s ever won a gold medal for swimming at the Games.

What champs! We’re so proud.
