Man steals 2-month-old puppy from Mong Kok pet shop then sells it at local mall (VIDEO)

Has the world gone barking mad? A man was filmed stealing a puppy from a pet shop last night before he went around a local mall offering to sell it to shopowners.

At around 9pm yesterday, a man visited a pet shop on Tung Choi Street and stole a two-month-old Jack Russell puppy while the staff were occupied, Apple Daily reports

After realising what had happened, the shopkeeper called the police and posted CCTV footage of the theft online in the hopes of identifying the puppy pilferer.

Soon afterwards, the thief reportedly went into a mobile phone shop at Sin Tat Plaza and offered to sell the dog for HKD700. He claimed that the pup was his, but said he had to sell it as it didn’t get along with his other dog.

The mobile phone shop owner, named Gary, told Apple Daily that he suspected that the dog was stolen, and said it was “shivering all over”. Fearing for its safety, he purchased the animal, took it home and fed it.

After seeing the pet shop’s CCTV footage on Facebook, Gary returned the puppy to the store today. The staff gave him his cash back after confirming that it was the stolen dog and told reporters that they would “step up security” from now on.
