Finding out you’ve been secretly taped while having sex is bad. Finding out by finding the clip on Twitter is much much worse.
But that’s just what an unnamed (luckily for him) 34-year-old bank employee yesterday told police had happened to him.
The exasperated man filed a report claiming that he had been secretly filmed while at a Phetchabun province love motel with his girlfriend, a fact he was unaware of until he was casually browsing his phone.
That’s when he was shocked (shocked!) to discover the intimate clip circulating on Twitter, reported Sanook.
Police have yet to identify those responsible but are currently conducting an investigation.
“We are currently looking at the evidence and investigating this claim,” Pol. Lt. Col. Sittinan Sittikamjorn, a deputy commander of Muang Phetchabun Police Station, said in a broadcast interview. “We have no information right now. It’s a pretty generic and unclear video, but the man firmly believes it’s him.” Hmmm.
The alleged victim further claimed to have used the very same motel room “five or six times” in the past three years.
Meanwhile, the owner of the unidentified motel has already come into the police station to provide his own statement. According to local media outlet Bang Muang, the owner thinks the entire tale is nothing but a scam to ruin his love motel’s fine reputation, and went on the record with authorities to show absolute transparency and cooperation.
The owner told police that he had not personally seen the clip, but he was confident that there are no hidden cameras in his motel rooms.
Nevertheless, if the perpetrator is found, they could be charged under Thailand’s computer crime law, which is punishable by a five-year prison term and/or a fine of up to THB100,000 (US$3,000).
Coconuts Bangkok will report back as updates emerges.
