More Christmas Awesomesauce: 4D art at Wisma Atria

Okay, we were wrong. There’s more than one shopping centre doing cool stuff for the Christmas season this year.

Check out Marina Square’s augmented reality photo and video ops, but also don’t miss the four-dimensional (4D) art at Wisma Atria.

Artists whose work have been going viral the past year — Leon Keer, Ruben Poncia and Remko van Schaik — were invited by one of Singapore’s longest standing Orchard Road malls to create three-dimensional (3D) floor paintings of the world’s famous “landmarks”.

The resulting masterpiece is a 63-square-metre four-dimensional trompe l’oeil (an art technique that uses realistic imagery to create a 3D optical illusion) drawing of four major cities in a “Christmas Theme” on the mall’s iconic flight of stairs and a 40-square-meter art piece along an in-mall corridor at level two.

There’s even an augmented reality (AR) element in it, making the whole thing 4D. Download an app for your phone or tablet, scan the art and you’ll get to see snow fall on the famous world landmarks on your screen.

Cool, right? If you check it out, be sure to snap some cool pictures and send them to us!

P/S: Wisma’s open till 11pm from Dec 16 — 23, for all you last-minute shoppers (naughty!).
