The RTHK reports that Manila mayor, Joseph Estrada, has landed in Hong Kong and is set to formally apologise to the victims families and survivors of the bus hostage incident in 2010.

Accompanying Estrada are top Philippine government officials including President Aquino’s top aide and the Philippine police chief. The group is set to meet with the Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying and Hong Kong officials but although Estrada has planned to apologise, it’s unknown whether the other officials will follow suit.

Estrada is also said to come to offer compensation to the hostage victims’ families and survivors a total of HK$20 million.
