You may not be able to rub shoulders with the children of Hong Kong’s political elite, but they might just pick up your dog’s poop… if you’ve got the money, at least.
A page has been set up under the name of “Chai Yan” on Pawshake, a web platform where you find regular people willing to be petsitters for a fee, offering “100 percent care and attention” to your beloved animal.
Pawshake confirmed with us via email that the page was indeed set up by the Hong Kong chief executive’ eldest daughter, Chai Yan Leung. (We have also contacted the Chief Executive’s office for comment.)
We guess taxpayer money for her purses ran out.
“I am a huge animal lover,” says the page, which features photos of Leung and her dogs.
“Big dogs, small dogs, male cats, female cats, exotic pets – I can handle everything.”
For a mere HKD5,000, your dog can stay at the Government House overnight. If your dog enjoys the whole day at the residence but doesn’t spend the night, you’d still be HKD5,000 short.
If you’re balking at the price, don’t forget the private, secured facilities to which your pet would have access.

Her dogs, which Leung featured prominently on her social media accounts (they’re now deleted), are Speedy the English Bulldog, Bond the Siberian Husky, and Bb the Miniature Spitz.
If the chief executive’s official residence – a mansion in the middle of Central – won’t cut it for your pets, then for HKD4,000 “Chai Yan” will offer to stay at your house.
For her to simply check up on your pet while you’re away (or not), that would be HKD700 a pop, but if you want two visits a day you’ll get a slight discount, at HKD1,200 total.
The most reasonably priced item on the menu is a single walk, for which you would be charged HKD300.
Whatever your needs, Leung assures you that your loved ones will be in good hands.
“Your pet will get my 100% care and attention and I will be with the animal at all times making sure it’s having fun and happy,” says the “About Me” section.
She promises to “fulfill all your requests to the best of [her] ability,” whether that includes “picking up their poop” or “cleaning their faces or paws if they ever get too muddy from having too much fun running around in the huge open garden space”.
Not sure you want to entrust your dog with someone who has not exhibited the most responsible behavior on social media? Then you can arrange a no-charge “meet and greet” to determine whether Leung is right for your pooch.
