You’re hot then you’re cold: Red Rainstorm Warning now in force, after Amber, Red, and Amber Rainstorm warnings

UPDATE: As of 2:45pm, all weather warnings have been cancelled.

You’re yes then you’re no…

After hoisting the Amber Red Rainstorm for an hour and a half, then the Red Rainstorm Warning for two hours, then the Amber one for another two, the Hong Kong Observatory raised the Red Rainstorm Warning back up again at 11:20am.

“This means that heavy rain has fallen or is expected to fall generally over Hong Kong, exceeding 50 millimetres in an hour, and is likely to continue,” according to the Hong Kong Observatory.

It’s possible that roads will become flooded (if they haven’t been already) and that major traffic congestion will ensue. The public, particularly residents living near rivers and watercourses, should also keep an eye out for flash floods.

The government also warned that normal school hours could be disrupted, and told parents, students, and school staff to listen to the radio or watch TV to check for school-related announcements.

To assuage your weather blues, we recommend singing “Amber and Red” to the tune of “Black and Yellow”:
