Firebomb reportedly thrown at Almond Roca ‘parallel trade shop’ in Sheung Shui

Independent media company SocREC reports that a “parallel trade shop” at the Royal Jubilee complex in Sheung Shui was hit with a firebomb at around 7pm yesterday.

The flames were put out by firefighters and no one was hurt.

Apparently the store had stockpiles of Almond Roca chocolates, which unfortunately were also damaged in the blaze.

According to witnesses at the scene, a man was seen throwing a firebomb at the store.

Other people, overhearing the police openly discussing the case, said that the officers suspect arson, and are looking for a man wearing a black hat, a grey sweater and blue jeans.

Sheung Shui, located right at the Shenzhen border, has long witnessed parallel traders buying goods in Hong Kong and bringing them across to the mainland. It’s a point of contention for many Northern District residents, with some forming the North District Parallel Imports Concern Group.
