Video footage of the horrific crash in Kam Tin that left five dead and 13 injured has been widely shared since the fatal collision last Friday.
The dashcam clip, published by Apple Daily, shows 70-year-old cargo truck driver Cheung Man-leung apparently running a red light before colliding with the green minibus, which skidded before hitting a set of metal railings and flipping on its side.
A KMB bus in the lane next to the green minibus managed to stop in time, and the driver later told Apple Daily that he could see people lying motionless on the ground after the crash.
The smash resulted in five fatalities at the time of writing, one of which was a three-month-old baby girl. Thirteen people were injured, at least one of whom (footballer Gigi Tang) is still in critical condition.
Cheung has been charged with one count of dangerous driving causing death. He was not asked to enter a plea at court, and the case has been adjourned until Feb. 16, 2016, to allow time for DNA and autopsy results to be released.
